The South Asian Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth
And how I got rid of it
Being from a south Asian background, you often tend to have a greater amount of hyperpigmentation in different areas of your face like the eyes, the cheekbones but especially around your mouth.
This pigmentation around your mouth can make you feel like you have a male pattern facial hair around the mouth, but no amount of threading, waxing or bleaching can help you get rid of it.
It's not the hair, that is giving the appearance of the darkness around your mouth, it is actually the hyperactivity of your melanocytes.
Melanocytes are the cells that secrete Melanin, which is what gives your skin its color. Dark-colored individuals have more melanin being secreted by their melanocytes whereas light-colored have less.
However, your skin color has nothing to do with your hyperpigmentation. It is generally a pattern seen in darker colored individuals to have a greater amount of hyperpigmentation as compared to lighter colored individuals.
So the question is What can you do to get rid of this hyperpigmentation around your mouth?
Here are a few of the things that you could try that definitely worked for me.
