Don't Tell Her To Get Over It

Empathy, ever heard of it? It is simply the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
How difficult can it be? You just have to listen to the people sharing their feelings and acknowledge their fears. Sometimes just listening to people make such a big impact in their life that we can't even imagine.
Two days ago I was sitting in the waiting area of a clinic and a woman was sitting in front of me. I then saw a doctor walk by and the woman called the doctor by name. They probably knew each other from somewhere. The doctor asked that lady what she was doing at the clinic. She then told the doctor that her husband had just married another woman and she was feeling depressed. She explained that it was a common practice in her community and that her family were asking her to accept the second marriage of her husband and make peace with him. The doctor was also aware of that practice and thought that since its a common occurrence in her friend's community it wasn't such a big deal. The woman kept telling the doctor how she was feeling depressed because of her husband's second marriage but the doctor kept telling her to get over it and to move on.
