Most of us here are “Doodlers.”

Whether it is drawing flowers on the borders of our notebooks while taking notes or making up shapes while taking a phone call.

This is unconsciously our attempt to keep our brain active and alert while we are waiting for something. Because if it isn’t, most of us start daydreaming and once you start daydreaming you basically lose count of time and even lose the concept of what you were doing in the first place.

A lot of research has been done on the fascinating relationship between doodling and memory recently and all of them conclude that people who are habitual of doodling are more likely to remember things(during which they were doodling) as compared to those who don’t.

One of these is the famous research by the University of Plymouth, UK, where 40 participants were chosen to monitor a telephone call and half of them were asked to Doodle while doing so. The results showed that the doodling group remembered 29% more information than the Non-doodling group.

So the question remains, How exactly does Doodling improve your memory?
